About

Limitless Chess represents an outside-the-box chess game designed for two players. It starts from the International Chess Federation (FIDE) board, pieces and rules, but the game significantly changes with the introduction of limitless chess assets (LCAs), which players can use based on the randomly selected cards. The game is intuitive as the objective is identical to conventional chess, to checkmate the adversary. The LCAs provide key advantages to the players and include wisdom, armed pieces and unconventional pieces. The unconventional and armed pieces are original creations moving by different rules. For example, the V-Bishop moves on a diagonal, like the conventional piece, but can change the direction under a 90 degrees angle to follow a V-shape on the board. The usage of LCAs creates almost infinite opportunities, significantly complicating the game. Therefore, the players will have to always adjust the strategy to the opponent’s additional resources inserted on the board. The number of LCAs allowed should be agreed upon by the players before the start of the game. However, the proposed type of game implies the selection of four LCA cards, that cannot be used at consecutive moves. The players will randomly pick the cards from the stack of their colour (14 cards each). The game idea came from realizing that chess, the most representative game designed to develop strategic planning, starts from the utopic scenario in which the opponents have access to identical resources with no surprise change during the game. Oppositely, Limitless Chess develops strategic thinking adapted to realistic challenges, since in business and war the opponents will never have the same resources and will not be able to anticipate all the moves resulting from surprise adversary resources.
