About

At Ghostcat Interactive, we aim to develop games that bring joy and entertainment to families worldwide. We strive to strike the perfect balance between simplicity and complexity, ensuring our games are accessible yet engaging for everyone. Easy to understand, hard to master. We are currently working on our first board game, and our vision is that it will be the beginning of a franchise of several games of all types. Cattack is a world inhabited by funny and mischievous cats that entertains themselves with various games and competitions while their humans are gone. The first game in our vision of a franchise, and the one we are working on, is Cattack: Cataclysm. Cataclysm is a strategic party/family game for 3-8 players with a recommended age of 10 and up. You take control of one of the cat commanders, and with their tank, you will try to defeat the other players. Think cats in tanks. Although Cataclysm is about cats in tanks, we aim to make the game setting as family-friendly as possible and fit the environment and behaviour of real-life cats. This is done by making them shoot at each other with balls of yarn. The points they earn are kibbles and, of course, tanks made of cardboard boxes. Cattack: Cataclysm is an easy game to learn but offers some depth in its strategic elements. The game has two phases, where the Catnap phase changes the order of turns. The central part of the game is the Catfight phase, where all the cats go crazy with their tanks. In the Catfight phase, there are only three different actions to learn, and no dice are used. So with the cards you randomly receive, you can shoot a ball of yarn, place a water balloon or move around. Simple enough, eh? Maybe too simple? Dont worry. There are nine commanders you can take control of, and each has a unique ability that alters either one of the actions. This adds a whole new layer of complexity to the game's strategy. And if you are playing with younger children, you can ignore those abilities to make the game easier to understand. The choice is all yours. So to sum it up, Cattack: Cataclysm can be both a game for the whole family or a party game with your friends. Small bits of randomness and chaos are added to help younger and new players, but without taking too much away from the player's agency. Randomness also has an essential function: add replayability to the game since it makes every playthrough unique. And last of all, if you are more of a dog person: Taco is a dog!
